They say oil will run out one day, is that just bluff or reality? why or why not? Won’t just drilling for more oil be the solution? Also, will they definitely be able to bring electric cars into use one day, or is that impossible? Is there ANY feasible alternative to oil and petrol, or no?
Yes Oil will run out. It is a simple logic that the time for forming oil in nature is far too long compared to the rate at which we are consuming it. whichever theory you believe – Abiotic or the other nature way. New source may come by and we may have respite for some time but our population is way more than what these resources can supply. so all the natural resource are going to deplete. But our technology will find other resources like algae etc to keep feeding the population with enough resources.
As far the electric car it is already a reality and in another decade it will become the norm of the day.
It seems to me that if you have an electric car that you plug in, it is (most likely) running off of coal, which powers most electricity grids. How is this better for the climate and for the environment in general?
As i understand, some power plants have only one operating mode, resulting in an excess of energy production in off hours, just enough electric cars around to sop up that overnight energy excess might be the ideal scenario. Early adopters of electric cars might not be able to make a clear financial case for the investment, but do help drive the refinement and expansion of the technology toward a more clearly cost effective point.
I saw somewhere analysis of electric cars that include charging and battery losses as being 80% to 85% over efficiency.

This is a good news for Camry fans of Thailand (and several countries in SEA).
We’re now saying hello to Toyota’s upcoming hybrid-drive era, and Southeast Asian version of Camry Hybrid, Toyota Thailand’s first production vehicle with Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, has just revealed to the outside world. After weekend preview for press. Here at Future Park Rangsit, Toyota uses a chance in “4th STOP GLOBAL WARMING fair” to reveal. Alongside 1/X concept from 30thBiMS. And they’re the proofs for Toyota’s advanced technology for environment this year.
Let me tell you this first. After more than 5 years since Honda introduced Civic Hybrid here in Thailand. But just only 50 units for 50 high-society households only, that meant for experiment use of course. And never sell for public. Later, newer version also arrived in Thailand but kept quietly in frontier of corporate as well, and just show to the public when Honda thought the times are right.
Not to mention the hybrid vehicles imported by grey agents. So we can say that this Camry will be the first authentic hybrid vehicle for Thai motorists to afford. Because its retail price has revealed, unlike Civic Hybrid. Assembled from Toyota’s “Gateway Plant” in Chachoengsao province like every Camry for Thailand nowadays. So the price can be still in affordable rate.
Many parts of exterior appearance exclusively reserved for. Such as fascia, front lamps, rear lamps, marques, and of course with special light silver as exterior color only for the model. As we look more, tones of light enriches the appearance. So this Camry makes difference unlike other Camry models, even the imported 3.5 Dual VVT-i.
But interior plot quite remained same, with full features just like toppie 2.4.
This Camry featuring a converted 2.4 VVT-i engine (power-reduced), and electricity motor at front (so it’s spontaneously FWD), via Hybrid Synergy Drive. A system about engine, electricity motor and lithium ion battery. Driver can select between 2 power sources each, and then synergy as one as only driver needed it. Whether start and drive without engine power, driving with engine power, or combine power from 2 sources. Now depended on the real world to provide its road in whatever types to go.

Oh, I almost forgot. Also with “Idle-Stop” if vehicle in neutral status; and driver’s foot don’t touch any pad.
Yet, engine for hybrid car requires transmission for that. Don’t worry much, Camry hybrid does have that. Only I don’t have much information but just like transfer case of Chevrolet’s Tahoe 2-mode hybrid.
Toyota’s Hybrid innovation will surely spreading its benefits for environment to the real world. In fuel efficiency, lower emissions and vibration noises, and maybe it can prevent globe from global warming somehow if we use vehicle like this more and more.
Even though with its problem report (system in SEA Camry Hybrid), now is just 0.002%. Should it be overlooked?
Also featured VDIM: Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management for the first time ever for production vehicle in official Toyota brand in Thailand. VDIM amazingly manages the following system:
- ABS-EBD-BA
-Steering action
-Vehicle Stability Control
-Traction Control
VDIM may still not be the absolute A.I., but it’s close(r than ever). I’d say.
Chassis and suspension set also surely retooled to be appropriated for a converted vehicle.
Camry Hybrid is also first Toyota (Thailand) with a 5-year or 150,000km. warranty for the first time ever. Because of Toyota’s new confidence about this production hybrid vehicle.
Bottom line, Toyota expected its total sale for 900-1,000 units each month. Its price will be different up from toppie 2.4 around 100,000THB. The sale will commence around July. First unit will arrive for customer by August onwards.
Meanwhile, will also export to several countries in SEA.
This is just about Camry Hybrid. Minor-changed Camry models will surely follow later. Chinese model one told me already for what it looked like.
I’ll watch it for its updates before its comeback to take compete with Accord and even… new Teana.
Now, large sedan segment for this year stirring things up and up. Even after 30thBiMS.
So Toyota’s “Hybrid World Around You” concept from 30thBiMS is the meaning for Toyota to start a new era of automobile in Thailand with hybrid technology this year because that power of innovation in this year is now closer than you think.
